Montana Firefighter Testing Consortium

MFTC was officially formed in 1997 when the fire departments of 5 Montana municipalities agreed to conduct joint testing in order to create a pool of qualified applicants for the position of entry-level firefighter in those departments.  Since 2001, MFTC has conducted an annual testing process toward that end.

As of 2010, the Consortium consists of the following members: Big Sky Fire Department; Billings Fire Department; Bozeman Fire Department; Butte Fire Department; Great Falls Fire/Rescue; Helena Fire Department; Lockwood Rural Fire District; Miles City Fire Department; Missoula Fire Department; and Missoula Rural Fire District. In 2014 Central Valley Fire District joined.

We appreciate your interest in a career in the fire service and hope you will consider participating in the Consortium’s upcoming testing process.

We are proud to be serving the citizens of the great State of Montana to the best of our abilities.

At 1:30 pm, the members of the consortium will be conducting a vote via conference call regarding the recently updated interlocal agreement. If you are interested in a copy of it or in participating in the conference call, please contact Sheri Hall @ 406-447-8404 or shall@helenamt.gov for information.

Central Valley Fire District has recently join our Firefighter Testing Consortium and will participate in the June testing and will give candidates an additional department to apply to.

Central Valley is the largest Fire District in Gallatin County, operating out of 5 stations, within approximately 300 square miles and serving a population of approximately 26,500 district citizens and approximately 8,200 citizens within the City of Belgrade.
